Airstream Aluminum Repair

We are hearing more and more about Airstreamers using or being interested in using foam insulation for their Airstream restorations. While it could be a great option, if applied improperly, can be quite a disaster. Also keep in mind future repairs. To get to the area to repair you have to dig out the foam insulation, and most likely refill it with regular insulation.

We all know that Airstream windows will over time have a have an ugly caked on filmy white/black residue. Due to the double window pane, this will happen to your trailer.

If your Airstream looks like it has splotchy patches this is the clearcoat that is peeling away.

You cannot start polishing until you get rid of the clearcoat and this process is very messy process but it's a must. You first have to apply a premium stripper (make sure you wear goggles, mask and heavy duty rubber gloves) also, if you have children or animals keep them away!
